Lenore Zann is the three-time successful candidate and Member of the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia representing the electoral district of Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River since 2009. 

Named as a national spokesperson for the Canadian Association of Mental Illness and Mental Health, Lenore is a passionate speaker known for her openness, integrity and frankness on issues ranging from society's growing financial inequality, addiction, anxiety and depression, to cyberbullying, abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Lenore is an advocate for both youth and seniors. 

A popular and hard-working politician, she was responsible for getting help for her community during the last big flooding event, for helping to save the Truro Raceway from being closed down, and for bringing free art & cultural experiences to the students of Truro-Bible Hill Millbrook-Salmon River and to our community as well by sponsoring a professional ballet company Ballet Jorgen to perform 5 years for every elementary school, and by creating Shakespeare in Victoria Park the past 4 years which is free to the public and has become a beloved annual summer tradition. 

In her government role Lenore has been responsible for 7 Critic Portfolios including: Education & Early Childhod Development, Aboriginal Affairs, Environment, Film & TV, Communities Culture & Heritage, Gaelic Affairs, & Agriculture. She has been NDP Deputy House Leader and Caucus Chair and a member of three important Government Committees - Law Amendments, Public Accounts and Natural Resources.

Over the past 8 years Lenore has earned respect as a tireless advocate for teachers and education, women's rights; mental health including addictions; social justice issues; the creative Industries including entrepreneurs, arts, culture & heritage; diversity and anti-discrimination; poverty eradication; and environmental concerns including climate change. 

Her Private Members bill, #111 entitled An Act to Address Environmental Racism has received wide public support as has her bill to enact the Truth & Reconciliation Committee recommendations and her two education bills - An Act to Repeal Bill 75 and An Act to Cap All Class Sizes. 

Lenore is also an award-winning actor, writer and producer with 33 years of experience in Film, TV, Radio, Animation, and Theatre with a reputation for mentoring a new generation of young artists - for which she received the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Lifetime Award for Service to Community and Country.

She is the proud aunt of three talented teenagers and loving owner of two dogs, a mother & daughter team: Ruby Dee & Aayla Secura.
